About MARCO

Who We Are

MARCO brings together the Chairs of regional municipalities and Mayors of large, single-tier cities, representing over 10.6 million Ontarians–that’s 75% of the province’s population.

As upper- and single-tier municipalities, MARCO’s members deliver services that touch every stage of people’s lives—like housing-enabling infrastructure, drinking water and sewers, police, public health, homelessness supports and social housing, childcare and long-term care beds—and that underpin Ontarians’ most urgent priorities.

Together, MARCO members work to make life better for their residents by influencing federal and provincial decisions through advocacy, policy, and collaboration.

MARCO Chair

Chair Karen Redman is Chair of the Region of Waterloo, elected in October 2018.

Karen has represented the community at several levels of government including federal, municipal and the board of education. Prior to being elected as Chair, she served on Regional Council as a representative for the City of Kitchener.
